Consortium Meeting 2024 in Bochum
Together with the project partners, the Chair of Automatic Control and Systems Theory, represented by Martin Mönnigmann, Nora Lindner and David Müller, discussed the milestones and achievements reached in the project over the last two years. Additionally, discussions focused on planning further joint activities in order to bring the final year of the project to a successful completion. The partners also started preparing the upcoming third FrontSeat Summer School, which will take place in Bochum in summer 2025.
The meeting was complemented by a visit to the WorldFactory, which is located on the former Opel car manufacturing site not far from RUB. The WorldFactory provided an insight into RUB’s start-up funding, highlighting international cooperation opportunities also for the project partners. After the visit to the WorldFactory, all representatives were invited to visit the research building ZESS. In addition to a guided tour, the chair for Automatic control and Systems Theory provided an opportunity to gain insights into the flight laboratory and the world of drones.
Two distinguished invited guests joined the meeting and gave lectures. First, Rolf Findeisen, Professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt, gave a talk on “Learning Model Predictive Control Ensuring Safety and Optimality”, providing insights into his research into controlling prostheses. Subsequently, Moritz Schulze Darup, Professor at the Technical University of Dortmund, presented results of his research in a talk entitled “Towards explainable data-driven predictive control with regularizations”. Both lectures were broadcast online so that other students from the partner universities were also able to attend.
We would like to thank our colleagues from STU Bratislava and the University of Pisa for the good cooperation and our external guests for the exciting presentations!
