Open Day for Prospective Students 2026
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Mönnigmann, David Müller introduced interested students to the field of control engineering. The presentation highlighted the wide range of applications within the discipline. Using examples such as laser systems, pumping systems, and drones, he demonstrated where and how control engineering is applied in practice.
In addition, the students had the opportunity to take an active role at the exhibit. Using drones converted into hovercrafts, they were challenged to complete a race track in the shortest possible time. Since the hovercrafts were not equipped with a control system and had to be operated entirely manually, mastering them required some practice. This allowed the students to experience firsthand why control engineering is indispensable in many technical applications.

The 2026 student project was funded by Priority Program 2433 Schwerpunktprogramm 2433 „Messtechnik auf fliegenden Plattformen“.
