FrontSeat – Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries
Since October 2022, the Chair of Automatic Control and Systems Theory from Ruhr-Universität Bochum has been participating in the project FrontSeat which seeks to strengthen the collaboration between the partners of the Slovak University of Technology from Bratislava, Slovakia, the University of Pisa, Italy, and RUB.
The project, funded by the European Union as part of Horizon Europe, aims to bring the administration of the three universities closer together to allow even more effective applications for EU projects in the future. The three partners already have long-standing partnerships in the context of research projects on the subject of “optimization-based control technology”, which is now further extended towards implementation on embedded hardware. In addition to joint workshops and participation at renowned conferences, numerous research stays are scheduled, both for new doctoral students and for experienced researchers. The flight laboratory in the new research building ZESS, operated by the Chair of Automatic Control and Systems Theory, provides the opportunity to test many of the approaches developed directly on autonomously flying drones.
The FrontSeat website can be accessed via the following link. A statement from the Slovakian partner on the kick-off meeting (in Slovakian) can be found here.
